Lucas Brunet is a Senior Researcher at LISIS (Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire Sciences Innovations Sociétés), in INRAE (France's National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment) and University Gustave Eiffel.
His work explores how contemporary science is transforming in response to urgent social and environmental challenges. He focuses on emerging forms of ecological knowledge and politics that propose new approaches to conserving Nature in the Anthropocene. Lucas draws on Science and Technology Studies (STS), environmental sociology, and the sociology of emotions to examine how ideas of societal relevance are reshaping research practices, political institutions, and public engagement.
Before joining INRAE, Lucas held academic positions in the Netherlands, Germany, and Finland. Lucas has been Assistant Professor at the Institute for Science in Society (ISiS), Raboud University (2024 – 2025), postdoctoral researcher at the STS department, Technical University of Munich (2020 – 2024), and postdoctoral researcher at Politics of Space and the Environment, University of Tampere, Finland (2018 – 2020).
Lucas holds a PhD in sociology from INRAE and Université Grenoble Alpes (2018), a MA in environmental politics (Sciences Po Paris, 2013) and a MSc in environmental science (Sorbonne Université, 2013).
