Lucas Brunet

Researcher in STS

Lucas Brunet examines contemporary transformations in research to address pressing social and environmental issues. His interdisciplinary work merges the political legacy of Science and Technology Studies (STS) with environmental sociology and the sociology of emotions.

Throughout an European career, Lucas has explored innovative environmental knowledge and politics, promising to provide new solutions to conserve nature in the Anthropocene. His investigations have also extended to the governance of European research and the evolution of evaluation processes for research funding.

Lucas holds a dual master's degree in environmental science (MSc) from Sorbonne Université and in politics (MA) from Science Po Paris. He then earned his PhD in sociology from INRAE in France. After his PhD, Lucas worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Politics of Space and the Environment research group at Tampere University, in Finland, and in Department of Science, Technology and Society, at the Technical University of Munich, in Germany. Starting from September 2024, Lucas will join Radboud University in the Netherlands as an Assistant Professor for Science in Society at the Institute for Science in Society (IsiS).
